01Good to know
Good to know.
Where is Copperline Distilling Co.?
We distill and bottle at the still house at 128 Depot Street in Asheville, North Carolina, a short walk from downtown and about ten minutes on foot from Pack Square.
What do you make?
Grain-to-glass whiskey and gin. Our core lineup is Ridgeline Bourbon, Switchback Rye, and Hollow Gin, alongside barrel-proof, single-barrel, and seasonal releases that come and go.
Is everything made on-site?
Yes. We mill grain, ferment, distill on our copper pot still, and barrel everything at the Depot Street still house. We do not source spirit from anyone else.
Do I have to be 21?
Yes. You must be 21 or older to buy from us or to taste at the still house, and a valid ID is required for any purchase or delivery.
02Ordering and shipping
Ordering and shipping.
Which states do you ship to?
We ship to most states where direct-to-consumer spirits shipping is legal. At checkout you enter your address and the cart shows whether we can deliver to you. If we cannot ship to your state yet, we will point you to a retailer near you instead.
Do I have to be 21 to order?
Yes. You must be 21 or older to buy from us, and the carrier requires an adult signature on delivery. We verify age at checkout and the driver checks ID at the door, so someone 21 or older needs to be home to receive the package.
How long does shipping take?
Orders leave the still house within two business days. Ground delivery usually lands in three to seven business days depending on your state. We hold shipments during heat waves and hard freezes so the spirit arrives in good shape, and we email you if your order is held.
Can I pick up my order locally?
Yes. Choose local pickup at checkout and grab your bottles at the tasting room on Depot Street during open hours. Bring a valid ID. We hold pickup orders for fourteen days.

Are your spirits gluten-free, and what about allergens?
Distillation removes gluten proteins, so our whiskey and gin contain no measurable gluten even when grain is part of the mash. That said, we are not a certified gluten-free facility, so if you have celiac disease, talk to your doctor first. We do not add any nut, dairy, or egg ingredients.
What does char-three mean?
Char level describes how long the inside of a new oak barrel is set on fire before it is filled. Char-three is a medium-heavy char, roughly thirty-five seconds, that builds a thick layer of caramelized wood sugars. That layer is where a lot of our color, vanilla, and toasted character comes from.
Do you do barrel picks?
Yes. Bars, bottle shops, and private groups can reserve a single barrel and taste through candidates with our distiller before choosing the one to bottle. Reach out through the contact page and we will walk you through minimums and lead times.
Are seasonal releases available year-round?
No. Seasonal and single-barrel releases are made in small runs and sell out quickly, often within a day. Once they are gone they are gone until the next batch is ready. Join the barrel-drop list if you want a heads-up before they go on sale.
04Before you visit
Before you visit.
Do I need a reservation?
Walk-ins are welcome for the bar and classic flights. Barrel tours and weekend visits book up, so reserve ahead if you want a guaranteed time. Private barrel picks are by appointment only.
Are kids or dogs allowed?
Guests under 21 are welcome in the tasting room with an adult until 7:00 pm. After 7:00 pm the room is 21 and over. Well-behaved dogs are welcome on the patio, and service animals are welcome everywhere.
Is food available?
We keep a short menu of snacks and cheese boards to pair with the pours. Food trucks park out front on Saturdays, and you are welcome to bring food in from nearby spots downtown.
Is the space accessible?
The tasting room, bar, and restrooms are step-free and wheelchair accessible. The barrel tour includes the rickhouse floor, which is level and accessible. Tell us about any access needs when you book and we will make it work.
Where do I park?
Free lot parking sits behind the building off Depot Street, with metered street parking out front. Rideshare drop-off is at the front door on Depot Street.
05About Copperline
About Copperline.
Who founded Copperline?
Dale Mercer and Renee Calloway founded Copperline in 2014. Dale is the head distiller, who sets the mash bills and makes the cuts. Renee runs operations and built the tasting room from a concrete shell.
When did Copperline start?
In 2014, with one used 250-gallon copper pot still in a leased stone building outside Asheville. The first Ridgeline Bourbon went on sale in 2016 after two winters in oak.
What makes Copperline grain-to-glass?
We start with grain we know by name, mill it fresh, ferment it on-site, distill it on our own copper pot still, and barrel and bottle everything in Asheville. Nothing is sourced from another distillery.
How big is Copperline?
Small and staying that way. We run one copper pot still and a single rickhouse, and we pull barrels when they taste ready rather than scaling up to hit a number.
